Action is being taken by Staffordshire’s Safer Roads Partnership to try and deal with concerns about a stretch of road in Cheadle where there have been two fatal accidents this year.
Members of the partnership met recently to discuss concerns over the A522 Leek Road between Cheadle and Clamgoose Lane.
In addition to the two fatal accidents, there have been seven collisions where minor injuries have been sustained since January, 2008.
Immediate action being taken by the partnership includes carrying out speed checks, installing enhanced warning signs and putting ‘slow’ markings on the road. The partnership will be training new Cheadle Speed Watch team volunteers and hopes to set up a safety initiative for young drivers living in the area.
