NewsDesk – Heritage champions wanted in the North West

The Heritage Lottery Fund is searching for a new generation of heritage champions to become members of its North West Committee.

Members play a vital role in shaping the future of the region’s heritage by deciding which projects are given lottery funding.

The Heritage Lottery Fund helps finance a wide range of projects and the committee can make grants of between £100,000 and £2 million.

Three new committee members are needed.

The Heritage Lottery Fund welcomes interest from people with a range of backgrounds and experience who have an affinity with the North West’s diverse heritage.

NewsDesk – Small grants for local heritage projects from the Heritage Lottery Fund

The Heritage Lottery Fund has launched a new small grants programme called Our Heritage.

Grants of more than £10,000 and up to £100,000 can be given to support national, regional or local heritage projects in the UK.

Under the scheme organisations, partnerships and private individuals can apply for a grant.

Our Heritage is a rolling programme and applications can be made at anytime.

Middleport Pottery will help the pottery industry survive

Carole Souter, The Heritage Lottery Fund’s chief executive who visited Middleport Pottery recently, said the factory was part of  our national heritage and “fundamental to understanding the history of Stoke-on-Trent and the Potteries”.

Ms Souter went on to say that the work being done at the factory by The Prince’s Regeneration Trust would help the pottery industry to survive, sustain local skills and provide employment.

NewDesk – Heritage Lottery funding for local projects

The Heritage Lottery Fund has launched a new £1 million grants programme called “All Our Stories” to support local groups who want to find out more about their area’s history.

Charities, community groups and local history societies in North Staffordshire can apply for grants of between £3,000 and £10,000 to support historical research and heritage based activities that will introduce local people to the history of the town or village where they live.

Funding is available for oral history projects and for visits to historic buildings, heritage parks, museums and industrial heritage sites.

“All Our Stories” has been developed to support the BBC’s The Great British Story – A People’s History that will be broadcast on BBC 2.

NewsDesk – Lottery funding to discover your heritage

Have you ever wondered what your town or village was like in the past or what life was like for the people who lived there?

The Heritage Lottery Fund can help you find out. It has launched a new £1m small grant programme, called All Our Stories, to help local communities answer these questions

All Our Stories will make grants ranging from £3,000 – £10,000 to support local groups researching the history of  their town or village.

The grants are being made to support the BBC’s The Great British Story – A People’s History which will be broadcast on BBC Two.

Applications for a grant can be made by a wide range of organisations including community groups, heritage organisations and charities. The application process is simple:

  • Go to The Heritage Lottery Fund’s All Our Stories page
  • Enter the details of your organisation, and
  • Answer a series of simple questions.

Applications must be submitted online by 31 July 2012.
