Chatterley Whitfield Colliery (off Biddulph Road, Tunstall – between Fegg Hayes and Brindley Ford) is internationally recognised as the most comprehensive survival of a deep mine in Europe. Not usually open to the public, the colliery is opening its doors on Saturday, September 11th. Admission is free and visitors will be given a conducted tour of the site where coal has been mined since Medieval Times.

The site is not suitable for wheelchair users. No entry for children under seven and young persons under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. This is a ticket only event and Pre-booking is essential. For more details and to book a ticket Tel: 01782 827142
