Leek NewsDesk – Art in the Park

April 11th, 2012

The Leek Guild of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers will be holding its largest ever display at next month’s Art in the Park festival.

Members of the guild will demonstrate their spinning and weaving skills in a marquee near Brough Park Leisure Centre during the two-day event.

Now in its seventh year, Art in the Park has become one of the highlights of the Staffordshire Moorlands calendar. This year’s festival promises to be bigger and better than ever before with exhibitions organised by Leek Photographic Society and Leek School of Art.

Council leader Sybil Ralphs, who has responsibility for arts development, said: “Art in the Park has blossomed into a major celebration of artistic excellence in and around the Staffordshire Moorlands. Last year’s event attracted more than 1,000 visitors, and I’m confident that the many attractions lined up for this year’s party will help us set another attendance record.”

Art in the Park takes place in Brough Park from 11am to 5pm on Saturday, May 12th and from 10am to 4pm the next day.

For more information visit www.facebook.com/artinbroughpark or follow the event on Twitter: @Artinbroughpark.

Remember to take your camera when you go to Art in the Park and enter your snaps in our photographic competiton A Year in the Life of the Churnet Valley.
