Liverpool is fighting to retain its World World Heritage Site status.

The battle began yesterday (Monday, November 14th) when three UNESCO inspectors arrived to assess the impact Peel Holdings’ £5.5bn Liverpool Waters dockland regeneration scheme will have on the city’s World Heritage Site.

Liverpool has already been warned that it could lose its World Heritage Site status if the regeneration project goes ahead.

Before making their report to UNESCO’s World Heritage Committee, the inspectors will meet community leaders and visit the World Heritage Site which includes the Pier Head, Albert Dock, Stanley Dock, Castle Street, William Brown Street and parts of the Rope Walk.
