Phoenix NewsDesk – A busy week for David

August 12th, 2012

Another busy week ahead for our chief executive, David Martin, who is exploring The Potteries with his camera and seeing our city through the eyes of a tourist.

David is in Burslem tomorrow where he will be photographing The Leopard an old coaching inn which played an important role in our region’s history.

He hopes to make contact with the Prince’s Regeneration Trust to find out more about its plans to regenerate the Wedgwood Institute and to visit Middleport Pottery, which like the historic Wycliffe Hall was designed by Burslem born architect A.R. Wood.

David’s main activity this week will be to finalise a heritage trail from the Harecastle Tunnels in Kidsgrove to Etruria Industrial Museum which enables walkers and cyclists to visit the heritage parks in Tunstall, Burslem and Hanley.

Readers Posts – Making North Staffordshire a World Heritage Site is a brilliant idea

August 12th, 2012

The Wedgwood Institute in Queen Street, Burslem whose unique terracotta façade will help make our region a World Heritage Site.

Hello Phoenix Trust,

My name is Harvey Richards and I just want to say that  I what you are trying accomplish is brilliant.

I am wondering how I can get involved with the trust’s work and help to make North Staffordshire’s Industrial Landscape and the Churnet Valley a World Heritage Site.

I should like to meet some of the people involved  and help out anyway I can. Unfortunately, I cannot meet with you face to face at the moment as I am in Cambodia teaching Conversational English to students.

I would love to communicate with the trust while I’m out here and you when I get back to Stoke.

I should like to hear from you as I am genuinely interested and very supportive of your project to make the North Staffordshire Coalfields a World Heritage Site.

It is an area of Britain’s economic history that is very important but one that has been forgotten about.

Thank you again for taking the time to read this email and I  should love to hear from you.

Regards

Harvey Richards

David Martin our CEO has replied to Harvey thanking him for his support and hopes to meet him when he returns to Stoke.
