Tourism is big business and London’s West End shops are preparing to be swamped by Chinese tourists.
Last year about 300,000 visitors to the UK came from China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau.
China’s Ambassador, Liu Xiaoming, estimates that from the middle of July until the end of August more than 250,000 Chinese visitors will come to Britain to see the Olympic Games and spend millions of pounds during their stay.
