Forget about the ranch for a few hours. Put your family in the buckboard and drive into town to join your neighbours for a great day out.
On arrival you will find cowboys and Native Americans, a small funfair on King Street Car Park, stalls selling a wide range of goods, street actors from Mow Cop, a bucking bronco and a bouncing castle.
Blow away those winter cobwebs and celebrate the arrival of spring by taking a walk through the beautiful Moorlands countryside.
Experienced walks leader John Mills will be guiding a 6.5 mile walk on the fringes of the Moorlands through Brown Edge to Knypersley Pool and returning down the head of the Trent and the Caldon Canal.
John will be setting off from Stockton Brook at 10.30am on Sunday, April 14th and everyone is welcome to join him.
This year’s Britain in Bloom activities in Newcastle-under-Lyme start in Kidsgrove town centre on Wednesday, March 20th.
Officers from the borough council will be by the shops in King Street to tell people all about the project and introduce them to local competitions and the council’s planting assistance scheme.
They will also hand out balloons and bookmarks in a bid to encourage more young people to get involved.
Councillor Elsie Bates, Cabinet member for culture and leisure, said: “We have cultivated a very strong reputation in Britain in Bloom over more than two decades but we haven’t rested on our laurels and continue to come up with new ways to keep our campaign fresh.
“We’ve built on the success of the launch by extending it to Kidsgrove and I couldn’t be happier that my home town is kicking off proceedings this year. I hope that by increasing our presence we are able to get more people involved in improving their environment for the benefit of everyone.
“Britain in Bloom isn’t just about flowers; it boosts the economy, improves the environment and brings communities together.”
